Requirements for Students to Participate or Tryout for Sports

Rising sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who will be participating in sports for the 2024-25 school year MUST have an approved VHSL (Virginia High School League) Sports Physical on file at the Frederick County Public School Board Office (1415 Amherst Street, Winchester) before trying out or participating in any sport. Physicals must be completed AFTER May 1, 2024, and will be valid for the 2024-25 school year. All four pages of the form must be completed and returned to Mrs. Unhoch, Coordinator of School Health Services, room 13, at the School Board Office before participating in any sport. Students who will be participating in sports for the 2024-25 school year will need to access the Handbook for Student Athletes. Complete the Student Athlete Handbook Parent Acknowledgement Form. The form MUST be completed by the athlete and parent and returned to the coach BEFORE participating or trying out for any sport.
